Fundamentally, a distinction is made between <strong>benign<\/strong> and <strong>malignant<\/strong> brain tumors.<\/p>\n<h3>Benign Tumors: Treatment of Benign Brain Tumors<\/h3>\n<p>The most frequently occurring intracranial (i.e., located within the skull) tumors include benign brain tumors. They usually grow more slowly but still press on surrounding structures and can thereby cause serious <strong>symptoms<\/strong>. They <strong>do not form secondary growths in other organs<\/strong> (no metastases) and are often <strong>curable with surgery<\/strong>. Common benign brain tumors are, for example, <strong>meningiomas<\/strong> (tumors of the meninges) or <strong>acoustic neuromas<\/strong> (tumors of the hearing and balance nerve).
